The Word Academics Book Club, was established with the aim of fostering a passion for reading among our children. Each month, we select a new book, and the children are given assigned reading for the week. During the subsequent meeting, we engage in discussions about the previous passage, accompanied by exercises that promote critical reading, creative thinking, and curiosity. The children eagerly anticipate each Book Club session and enthusiastically return week after week. Many of them have expressed their enjoyment of the process and expressed a desire to explore new books independently. This achievement is a significant success for us, aligning perfectly with our overarching goal of instilling a love for books in children!
That aims to make children comfortable and confident with their Urdu language skills. Local school children often complain about mundaneness and a lack of creativity in how the subject is taught. Although the modern curriculum has undergone a lot of revision and has been updated from the traditional teaching methods, it still has a long way to go in order to come to par with other languages and how they are taught, especially English. Urdu Justuju wants to lighten the subject for children and spark curiosity, make it relevant and homely enough even at an academic level, so that it gains the same weight as other subjects.
